FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

QUESTION: Are the panels compatible with Microsoft Vista and FSX ©?

ANSWER: YES they are compatible with XP and VISTA.

QUESTION: Are the panels compatible with the new Microsoft Service Pack 1 and 2 for FSX ©?

ANSWER: YES they are.

QUESTION: Why 747-8 and/or 747-800 ?

ANSWER: following the first Boeing announcement, many of us have called the new aitcraft 747-800. In fact, the true Boeing denomination for future series is in the fromat 7x7-y. So the real name of the new 747 is really:

747-8.

QUESTION: it is impossible to adjust altitude?

ANSWER: on the Boeing MCP, a switch locks altitude to avoid error manipulation. So it is necessary to switch ON the FLCH switch first, then switch ON the VS switch to adjust altitude. It is assumed that doing this manual operation, you stop VNAV function of the FMC.

QUESTION: can we use the panels with FSNavigator?

ANSWER: the answer is YES and NO! YES you can use the 2 softwares at the same time. But: FSNavigator and FMC drive the autopilot. So you cannot at the same time follow a flightplan using FSNavigator and another different FS flightplan using the FMC.

QUESTION: how to uninstall the panel?

ANSWER: the panels installation is now automatic. To uninstall, go to START MENU, in Flight Simulator 9 (or X if you installed in FSX) and click on INSTALL JSGPanels ®. Refer to attached documentation.

QUESTION: how does the heading operate?

ANSWER: 2 steps disconnected one from the other. ONE: adjust the heading the desired value, the pink bug turns round. TWO: when at the desired value, click on the center of the button. the aircraft then turns to the displayed heading. The heading value is operational ONLY when you click on the center of the button.

QUESTION: what is the 747 landing speed?

ANSWER: about 160 to 165 knots. This speeddepends on the load and it is possible to slow down to 150.

QUESTION: what are the software versions compatible?

ANSWER: the panels had been designed with Windows 98 and FS2002 and now for FS2004 and FSX . The gauges and the panel are totally standard. The panel and the FMC have been now ported and tested with Windows XP and FSX without any problem. All the package being standard, there shouldn't be any incompatibility to use some other softwares simultanously. However some software use the basic functions of FS such as AUTOPILOT. In this case there is incompatibility. Ask the question before downloading the panel.

QUESTION: which folders/files are copied and where?

ANSWER: in FS2004 the gauges folders themselves gl7x7-... must be copied directly in the FS gauges folder. Do not extract the files themselves from the gl7x7... folders. See the picture in the 747 Specifications .

UNIVERSAL FMC .

QUESTION: the FMC is not displayed ?

ANSWER: the FMC is normally installed in:

C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Microsoft Flight Simulator FSX/Gauges

If your Flight Simulator FSX is installed in another folder you have to type this folder when installer ask the question.

 

The FSX versions are autoinstalling. Just follow the menu and answer questions, generally "yes" and/or "next" if you installed your FSX the standard way in the "Program Files" folder.
